Well I had this big elaborate speech about how miserable life is right now, but I figured nobody likes to hear about that anyways. Plus things aren't so bad.
This period of time (the month of June) always feels like the worst leg of the whole fishing experience. My task lies in painting all of this 58 foot boat. Believe me, painting five colors on a steel boat is the biggest pain in ass. I approached painting by using the top to bottom method. Simply, I paint the top colors and make my way down towards the bottom colors of the boat. Well this method sounds the fool proof, it's not. In reality I end up getting paint everywhere, usually throw my brush in anger and invent new cuss word combinations. I have sworn more in this one week then my entire life. I now have a tremendous respect for people in the painting profession.
On top of that I have also been working on the nets. That's a story I don't want to even get into.
I am happy however that I got meet up with my old friend Jake this evening. He's a math teacher here in Juneau and spends his time up north fishing in Bristol Bay during the summers. We sat down with a couple of his friends tonight drinking micro brews, talking about grizzly bear stalking, the art of catching fish, and the perils of religion. I really love meeting people up here sometimes, they have a unique perspective about how life and the world works. Conversations are never boring with people around here
So this coming week I'll continue to slave away painting, periodically looking up at the snow capped mountains, wishing I could go ski them.
Adventure surrounds me yet I'm stuck painting this damn boat.
